SOUTHPORT BIRTHDAY BASH CELEBRATION WITH FOOD, LIVE MUSIC, SILENT AUCTION,
DRIVE-IN MOVIE AND FUN FOR ALL AGES
The Southport Birthday Bash, celebrating the town’s 380th birthday, takes place on September 15 from 12-3 at the Pequot Library. It’s a free event that includes food from local merchants, live music, historic exhibit and walking tours, croquet, a silent auction and raffle, and for the kids, touch-a-truck, face painting, craft table, and games. It’s a benefit that supports the community work of the Sasquanaug Association. The event will be held rain or shine.
The Sunday event details are:
Food: A variety of cuisines from local vendors.
Live Music: School of Rock and other local groups will entertain throughout the event.
Walking Tours: See historic Southport through a walking tour; tours leave on the hour from the library’s steps, starting at noon.
Historic Exhibit: View the town’s history through our curation of old photographs and memorabilia.
Croquet: Meet Southport’s U.S. Croquet Hall of Fame championship player Ruth Summers, who will introduce you to a fast-growing club sport, and have you playing and laughing on the lawn in minutes.
Stretch Lab: Free assisted stretch demos from the flexologists at Stretch Lab.
Silent Auction: Bid on a wide range of silent auction items, from sunset sails to rounds of golf, a Vermont ski house weekend, personal training session, and much more.
Raffle: Buy raffle tickets for a robust offering of gift certificates and services from local merchants; raffle takes place at 2:30 (you must be there to win).
For the Kids: Face painting, craft table, Southport Fire Department’s Touch-A-Truck, balloons.
The Sasquanaug Association, founded in 1887, preserves and protects the quality of life in Southport. As a charitable organization, it relies on membership to drive the efforts which include involvement in zoning, conservation, historic district and other town issues.
