Welcome to The Sasquanaug Conservancy for Southport!

Greetings to our member and supporter community!

We warmly welcome all members and prospective new members to attend The Sasquanaug Conservancy's annual meeting on Sunday, November 16th at The Southport School.

Our first member gathering as a merged organization will feature a vibrant agenda including a presentation on historic preservation and revitalization, introductions to our Board of Trustees, a 2025 highlights report and a look ahead at 2026.

All followed by a reception where you can mix and mingle with the community and fellow members over refreshments.

Can't be there in person?  We're hybrid! Use the link: bit.ly/sascon2025 to stream the meeting remotely.

Please pre-register/RSVP via email at sasquanaug@gmail.com and check here for updates.

We look forward to a great meeting!

Town of Fairfield Wins Major Legal Victory Against Connecticut Siting Council Decision on Monopoles

United We Stood and thanks to SCNETI, Empowering Fairfield, our fellow intervenors, the Town of Fairfield, Bridgeport and a solid legal team, we recently won a victory against UI and the CT Siting Council.  We've only just begun, but this is proof positive of what we can do together --even against a huge utility company.   Please see link to press release below for more info. Thank you for your steady support as we continue to keep Southport safe.

Sasquanaug Board of Directors 2024

As a charitable organization, we rely on membership to drive our efforts to protect and preserve the quality of life in Southport. That includes involvement in zoning, conservation, historical district and other town issues.

Whether it means hiring an attorney to defend the community’s position on development or sponsoring an event around town, our dues go directly back to the community.

Charm... bucolic environment... open spaces... narrow, irregular streets... bluestone sidewalks... While part of the Town on Fairfield, Southport has a distinct identity of its own derived primarily from the genius of the harbor and its nineteenth century environment which has been preserved to an unusual degree in this century of change.
